The MIFA I bargaining team has invoked the Interest Arbitration process. As soon as a mutually agreeable location can be determined to hold the proceedings, a panel of arbitrators will be requested from the American Arbitration Association from that location.
The correspondence below was delivered to the Company on October 7, 2015.
In accordance with Section E of the Memorandum of Agreement on Structured Bargaining, the MIFA I bargaining team is invoking the Interest Arbitration process. The choice to proceed to this next level was not a flippant decision. At this juncture the Union Bargaining Team believes it would be fruitless to continue in the Escalation Process as there appears to be no plausible resolution on the remaining open issues between the parties.
We will need to determine a mutually agreeably location where the proceedings shall take place. As of this date, we have held negotiations in Cleveland OH, Detroit MI, Baltimore MD, and Washington DC. The Union may have IBEW halls available for the arbitration proceedings in both Cleveland, OH, and Baltimore, MD, depending on the time frame. Your thoughts on a location would be appreciated.
